Singapore International Graduate Award

The SINGA (Singapore International Graduate Award) is an award specifically designed for international students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance in their undergraduate and/or master’s studies and possess a keen interest in conducting research that leads to a doctoral (PhD) degree in Science and Engineering at a university in Singapore.

Host Institution(s):

Students awarded the SINGA scholarship have the flexibility to conduct their research primarily at several prestigious institutions in Singapore, including the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), or the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).

Field of study:

The SINGA scholarship supports PhD programs in two main fields: Biomedical Sciences and Physical Sciences and Engineering. This means that recipients of the scholarship have the opportunity to pursue doctoral research in areas such as biology, bioengineering, chemistry, physics, materials science, and various branches of engineering, among others, within the context of the Biomedical Sciences or Physical Sciences and Engineering disciplines.

Number of Awards:

Approximately 240 SINGA awards are granted each year to deserving international students who meet the eligibility criteria and demonstrate outstanding academic achievements and research potential in the fields of Biomedical Sciences and Physical Sciences and Engineering.

Target group:

The SINGA scholarship is primarily aimed at international students who have a strong academic background and a keen interest in pursuing doctoral research in Science and Engineering disciplines at universities in Singapore.

Scholarship value/inclusions:

The SINGA award offers comprehensive financial support for up to 4 years of PhD studies, covering full tuition fees, a monthly stipend ranging from S$2,700 to S$3,200, a settlement allowance of S$1,000, and an airfare grant of up to S$1,500. This support package is designed to alleviate the financial burden of pursuing doctoral research in Singapore and to enable recipients to focus on their studies and research endeavors.

Eligibility:

The eligibility criteria for the SINGA scholarship are as follows:

  • Open to all international graduates who possess a strong passion for research and have achieved excellent academic results in their previous studies.
