Schwarzman Scholars receive a comprehensive scholarship package covering various expenses throughout their one-year Master’s Degree and Leadership Programme in Global Affairs at Tsinghua University in Beijing. The scholarship includes coverage for tuition and fees, accommodation and meals, round-trip travel expenses to and from Beijing at the start and end of the academic year, an in-country study tour, required course materials and supplies, health insurance, and a personal stipend. This comprehensive support enables scholars to focus on their studies and fully engage in the program’s leadership development opportunities.

Eligibility:

Undergraduate degree or first degree from an accredited college or university or its equivalent.

To be eligible for the Schwarzman Scholars program, applicants must hold an undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification from an accredited college or university. Those who are currently pursuing an undergraduate degree must demonstrate their ability to fulfill all degree requirements by August 1 of the year they intend to enroll as Schwarzman Scholars.

There are no specific field requirements for the undergraduate degree; applicants from all academic disciplines are welcome to apply. However, it is essential for candidates to articulate how their participation in the Schwarzman Scholars program will contribute to the development of their leadership potential within their respective fields. This demonstrates a clear understanding of the program’s objectives and how they align with the applicant’s academic and professional aspirations.

Age Requirement.
Candidates must be at least 18 but not yet 29 years of age as of August 1 of their Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year.

English language proficiency.

Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in the English language, as all instruction and coursework in the Schwarzman Scholars program are conducted in English. If English is not the applicant’s native language, they must provide official scores from recognized English proficiency tests along with their application. Acceptable tests include the Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) with a minimum score of 100, the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 7, or the Cambridge English exams (Advanced or Proficiency) with a minimum score of 185. However, this English proficiency requirement may be waived for applicants who meet certain criteria. Applicants who have completed their undergraduate studies at an institution where English was the primary language of instruction for at least two years of their academic program may have this requirement waived. Additionally, applicants who have completed two or more years of study at the Master’s degree level or higher in English-speaking programs may also qualify for a waiver of this requirement.
